About Us
When she opened Acorns to Oaks in 1996, Deborah S. Klein realized a long-held dream of providing the most complete child care center in Monroe County.

Deborah, a Reeders mother of two children who graduated from the Pocono Mountain School District, started her business in Scotrun by buying and fixing up a two-story building atop a hill off Route 611. She had no illusions about the tough task ahead.

"We had very few materials, but we improved the fences, parking lot, playground areas and all the rooms inside the building. Now we have the very best learning tools and supplies, many of them Montessori materials, in providing hands-on teaching."

The New Jersey native earned associate's degrees in liberal arts from Union County College in Cranford, N.J., and early childhood education from Northampton Community College in Tannersville, Pa. She also earned diplomas in school age care and special needs, in addition to a director's specialized diploma and private academic teaching license.

Acorns to Oaks, under Deborah's direction, also has forged a key alliance with the Pocono Mountain School District to ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten, an essential time in the development of all children.

"Each day we come in and do our jobs to the best of our abilities. That may not sound impressive, but it is. We have a dedicated staff, and they work very hard to provide the best for our children."
